“ Food: - indo mie: 8.5/10, very flavorful, even tastier with the sauce - milk tea: 8/10, not super sweet! Service: - super fast service and friendly staff - seated super quickly around lunch time Ambiance: - small and packed restaurant ”
“ I love malaysian/singaporean food so I knew I had to come try this place. On a saturday afternoon, there are a decent amount of people but the service was super quick and we got our food within 5 minutes. I ordered the laksa and it was so good. The portion was big and the laksa was full of flavor. The curry broth was so creamy and not super spicy, just to my liking. I liked everything in it - fish cake and tofu etc - and the egg noodles was chewy and bouncy too. It was so perfect and I am definitely coming back to try more things. ”
“ Got a plate to go, can't recall if it's the melayu or lemak. Food came out quickly, it's a good portion, flavorful, spicy, and cooked well. Will be coming back to try more. ”
“ Love the indoor aesthetic! First time trying and a friend and I both got the laksa. It was delicious and extremely flavorful! Wish there was also more grass jelly in the milk tea drink but overall scrumptious ”
“ A cozy shop on the Main Street of Alhambra that's always filled with customers. They offer Singaporean and Malaysian style dishes. I came here during lunch time so there was a 15 minute wait. I ordered the lemak and laksa. They were both delicious. The flavors were very clean and prominent. The one thing I have to point out was that we got our lemak way before our second dish. Our laksa took a bit to come out, roughly 15 minutes? The staff had walked back and forth a couple times past our table. We sat at the last table at the back of the restaurant so I'm not sure that was a reason why we weren't being checked on :(. Other than that, the staff were super welcoming and friendly! ”
“ Usually Borneo is pretty awesome! Good value. I frequently crave the Rojak and Gado-gado. Portion sizes tend to be great, especially with the amount of rice provided in the chicken satay plate. My partner loves the Mie options here and you cannot go wrong with the drinks available - I'm partial to the hot chrysanthemum tea! However, my last visit yesterday has given me and my partner the most diabolical fucking diarrhea today because I didn't notice the UNDERCOOKED CHICKEN in the sauce-covered satay until about three pieces in. It's 1AM a day later and my partner is worse off than me. Service was not the best (never really is), but yesterday the restaurant was dealing with a full house and I noticed a lack of attention left and right - people requesting multiple bowls for sharing, only one water arriving to my table, things of that nature. These are forgivable when the food satisfies, of course. But it left a bad impression yesterday when I called over an employee, my partner and I asked if it looked raw to her, and there was no denying it. ...then she just left the satay plate that we established was contaminated because of undercooked pink poultry nuggets clearly visible. We had to ask for the plate to be removed, new utensils, and that just really did not whet the appetite anymore. It means a lot to have been offered a replacement plate. I accepted - for leftovers the next day!! And the chicken turned out fully cooked and white and normal! Anyway, I'll have to not come back for a while because the texture and taste of those hellacious pink-core chicken nugs really stayed with me between ass contractions and dry heaves. Completely not an ordinary experience for us here but just a warning to all you other freaks who use Yelp, check your chicken skewers on a busy day because the pressure of putting plates out to tables may unleash an infernal indigestion. But I still love the noodles and sweetened drinks here!!! So I will be back eventually and just never play with the chicken satay again due to breaking my trust. I shouldn't have to use my phone flashlight and pick apart each piece of chicken off a skewer to inspect its doneness before eating it. ”
“ Came here since we missed Uncle Fung and although it doesn't hit the same, it's still good. The portions are large and the service is excellent despite there being a crowd. I would say the laksa is not as creamy and potent in curry flavor and is a little watered down but it still gets the job done. Ingredients are fresh and yummy! Location is in DT Alhambra so you'll need to park near Sprouts and walk over ”
“ Borneo Eatery is located within the lively downtown Alhambra district, which includes many eateries and shops. While the front door is pretty unassuming directly on Garfield, there is a free parking structure behind the restaurant that serves the area. My friend and I met at Borneo for lunch and were seated pretty quickly. There is ample seating in the restaurant, though during the Saturday lunch hour most tables were occupied. IMO, this restaurant doesn't lend itself to large groups, but can easily handle a family of 4-6 (max) per table. Staff was attentive enough, though in the beginning it felt we were being rushed to order as we both reviewed the menu. Staff was friendly overall. Borneo only serves water and a few a few assorted teas as beverage choices. There are no alcoholic beverages or common soft drinks available. We began our meal with the Roti Prata, which was WONDERFUL! They arrived warm, crisp, and flaky. The roti is served with a dipping sauce. Though it felt a bit pricey to me ($9.50 for 2), I would give these a 5/5! Definitely a MUST if you eat here. For my entree, I had the Singapore Laksa with egg noodles. While reminiscent of Japanese ramen in composition, the flavors were unique and delicious. There's a sweetness along with the spice that created a great balance for the bowl. By the end, I was absolutely stuffed. Great value for the price here ($14.50)- 5/5 My friend had the Chicken Satay Entree with Curry Rice. All was seasoned well, though chicken was slightly dry. This would be a good, "safe" meal for a non-adventurous diner. Good value for the price on this ($13.99)- 4.2/5 Two clean restrooms Great meal- would definitely return and recommend to others! 4.5/5 Overall! ”
“ I was recommended this place by an Indonesian coworker of mine & by my siblings. My family and I came here on Christmas Day for dinner around 6pm. There was plenty of seating but my the time it got to 6:30 many more parties came in. Service is kind of slow. You have to wait for someone to come by and then flag them immediately or else you won't seen them for another 5-10 mins. Other than service being slow, food did come out quick. We ordered the roti prata - it was thicker than I like for a roti but still flaky and delicious. The chicken satay was very flavorful. The chicken in the Nasi Campur was the most memorable part of our meal, wish there was more of it on the dish. The bbq pork/chasiu wasn't too good. There was a lot of fat on the pork. Overall I had a decent experience and food was good. I would definitely come back to try their other dishes. ”
“ I was CRAVING laksa, and I was very happy to see they had it here. The broth was rich and creamy, while staying balanced! It was quite busy on a Monday at 12:30 PM, but were able to snag a seat before the rush. My favorite dish was actually the Chicken Satay Plate. INCREDIBLY tender and flavorful! The marinade was perfectly done and addicting! I would come back and order this again for sure. I'll be thinking about this plate for a while... PRO TIP: add extra peanuts for some extra texture! ”
